Kay Marie Johnson, 85, of Rhinelander, died on March 13, 2026, at the Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1940, in Rhinelander, the daughter of Norman and Ruth (Jape) Johnson. Kay attended Headwaters well over 20 years. She had to retire at the age of 60 because of Parkinson’s disease.
Kay was a lifelong member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and participated in the bible study group. She was a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Lawrence Welk. She enjoyed the concerts at the Riverwalk by Trigs and in Hodag Park. She loved to go to Culvers. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Kay is survived by her sisters Mary (Rich) Auth and Norma Johnson, her brother David (Cindy) Johnson, her nieces and nephews and her special friends and caregivers, Soledad Convento, Guntis Varna, Carlo Convento and Jaja Delos-Reyes. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kay and her family had a special place in their heart for all of Kay's past and present caregivers.
Visitation for Kay and a Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, March 19, at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp officiated.
