According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT), Chippewa Concrete Services is the prime contractor for the project.

“Crews will repair deteriorating concrete pavement, reconstruct pedestrian curb ramps and replace pavement markings,” the press release states.

A construction information regarding the project meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. in the Minocqua public library.

The DOT press release said during construction, Hwy. 51 will have a minimum of one lane open to traffic in each direction and access will be maintained to businesses and residences at all times.

“Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2026,” the DOT press release said. “The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.”
