A new pressure washer will soon be in the works for Pelican’s town shop, after the town board’s regular meeting Monday at the Pelican Town Hall.

With town chairman Nick Scholtes absent due to illness, supervisor Walter Dahlquist Jr. led the brief meeting.

The $8,795 quote including $5,000 down for a new oil-fired Beaver pressure washer, plus $1,900 quote to run a three-wire 240 with a required 50-amp breaker 140 feet with three-quarter-inch conduit, were approved.

The new pressure washer will replace the shop’s short-lived current washer, which was purchased in 2018 and used a 20-amp breaker.

A pump issue may have helped cause the current power washer’s relatively early demise. “I think that’s from our old water,” road supervisor and shop foreman Mike Carroll told the board, adding that a filter system was installed last year.

He observed that the person who examined the washer didn’t know “if the pump locked up, which burned the motor up, or if the motor burned up, which locked the pump up.”

Also at the meeting, the board  approved a utility permit for Aspen Court.

An agenda item to discuss and take action on vacating a platted road in Alburmi Shores was tabled.

The next regular meeting of the Pelican town board will be on March 23 at 4 p.m.
