Future Business Leaders compete at regional competition
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) regionals were held Saturday, Feb. 7 at Loyal High School. That day two Rhinelander students competed against 29 other schools in the North/Central Wisconsin area.
Students could choose various types of events to compete in, such as taking a test on related business topics including accounting or personal finance, or students could perform a presentation or speech for events such as desktop publishing or public speaking.
Some competitors competed on the day of competition and others took tests prior to the regional leadership conference, for a total of 10 competitors for Rhinelander.
The top three competitors in each event will proceed to state; six members will go from Rhinelander.
Four came home with a first place medal: Dom Hakala (Advertising), Kam Kostrova (Entrepreneurship) and the team of Amelia MacIntyre and Lexi Terzinski (Website Design).
In addition, the team of Josh Haselton, Sam Caselton and Kam Kostrova will be competing in the community service project.
Placing fourth was the team of Josh Haselton and Sam Caselton (hospitality and event management) and Wyatt Peters (cybersecurity). Also competing for Rhinelander were: Grant Gremban, Kate Tran, Clara Pudlowski, and Emmaline Kramsvogel. Rhinelander FBLA was recognized with a chapter award as well: first place for outstanding community service.
Students placing first through third will be competing at FBLA State Competition, which will be held in Green Bay April 12-14.
