City’s running water order ends today
The City of Rhinelander announced earlier this week that the running water order” that was issued for certain water customers within the City will end, effective today — Friday, March 13.
The city stated in its announcement that its Water Utility has observed that the frost has released from the ground in the affected service areas, to the point that it is no longer an issue for water services.
“When the frost reaches a certain level during cold winters, we may issue running water orders to certain residents who live in known negatively affected areas, to help prevent the system from freezing up,” Public Works Director Tom Roeser said.
This soon-expiring running water order was initially issued on Feb. 1. Water credits for customers who were advised to run their water will end on March 13, 2026.
“We really appreciate the cooperation from the affected residents,” Roeser said. “We also appreciate the conservation of water used by the utility customers to achieve the goal of frost-free operations.”
