Mavis Perry, a lifelong resident of Rhinelander, died on June 20, 2026, in Ellsworth. She was born on January 4, 1929 in Rhinelander, the daughter of Harold and Maren (Fremstad) Christiansen. Mavis attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1947. She married Eugene Perry on June 2, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2018. The Lord blessed them with 67 years of marriage.
After her schooling Mavis went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company and then stayed at home to raise her family. Eventually she went back to work for Consolidated Papers.
Mavis was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening and traveling. She loved hosting family gatherings especially at Christmas time. She loved her family, her friends and more than anything, her Lord and Savior.
Mavis is survived by her daughters Janet (David) Harmon, Sandra (Roy) Egelhoff and Barbara (Gregory) Schmidt, her daughter-in-law Karen Perry, her grandchildren Becky, Sarah, Eric, Kara, Beth, Robert, Tim and Brianna, her five step-grandchildren, her 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her son James, her parents, her sister Anna and her brothers Donald, Eugene and Norman.
Mavis' family would like to thank the staffs at Grace Lodge, Preferred Senior Living and Adoray Hospice for the loving care they provided their Mother.
Visitation for Mavis will be held on Friday, June 26, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
