Three Lakes Community Foundation awards grants to support summer community programming
The Three Lakes Community Foundation awarded three grants totaling $1,350 to support summer programming and community activities in Three Lakes.
The Foundation awarded a $300 mini-grant to the Three Lakes Lions Club to help inform the public about changes to this year’s Fourth of July activities. Due to construction at Three Lakes High School, the Lions Club pancake breakfast traditionally held there will move to the Reiter Center July 4.
In addition, the Three Lakes fireworks have been moved to July 2 because of increased competition and costs associated with hosting fireworks on July 4. Fireworks will take place at dusk at Don Burnside Park following the Veterans Memorial dedication, scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Grant funds will help support signage and advertising so residents and visitors are aware of these updates.
A second $300 mini-grant was awarded in support of the Three Lakes Scavenger Hunt, a summer-long community activity involving the Three Lakes Lions Club and the Three Lakes Historical Society. The scavenger hunt is designed to encourage residents and visitors to more fully explore and learn about Three Lakes. Grant funds were approved to help purchase gift certificates from local businesses and support project expenses connected to the event.
The Foundation also awarded a $750 grant to Northwoods Land Trust, Inc. to help add Wild Child to this summer’s programming at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts. The Wild Child program is part of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival and features a series of short films designed to inspire environmental awareness, outdoor curiosity and stewardship of natural resources.
Together, these grants reflect the Foundation’s commitment to supporting local activities that bring people together, welcome visitors, engage families and friends, and enrich community life in Three Lakes.
For more information about these summer programs, watch for announcements from the Three Lakes Lions Club, the Three Lakes Historical Society, Northwoods Land Trust, or the Three Lakes Center for the Arts.
