August “Chip” A. Schoeneck, Jr., 76, of Rhinelander, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his winter home in Florida. Chip was born on August 7, 1949, in Antigo, to his loving parents, August and Ione (Starks) Schoeneck. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1967. Following high school, Chip entered the workforce. On April 19, 1975, he married his lifelong love, Carolann Johnson.
Chip had a wonderful life. He loved the Lord, his family, camping, and fishing. In later years, Chip and Carol enjoyed life as snowbirds splitting their time between Wisconsin and Morriston, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Schoeneck, of Rhinelander; his son, David (Jami) Schoeneck, of Rhinelander; his daughter, Stephanie (Brad) Horne, of Mequon; his sister, Nellie (Gene) Stoiber, of Oconomowoc; and his son-in-law, Roman Yatskar, of Belmont, Calif. Chip is further survived by his grandchildren, Sydnie Horne, MacKenzie Horne, Jaden Schoeneck, Jaxen Schoeneck, and Jalyn Schoeneck. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ione; his daughter, Tera Yatskar; and his sister, Dolores “Lori” Chesnut.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 13, at The Rosewood Barn in Gleason at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
