Russell William Running, 65 of Sugar Camp passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. He was born in Appleton on October 10, 1960, the son of James and Shirley (Jenneman) Running.
Russ graduated from Three Lakes High School in 1979. He then went on to work at Watercraft, Shorewood, and Three Lakes Marine.
Russ met his future wife Debby at her summer residence while working on her boat. Then they became a regulars at Brigg’s Bar in Three Lakes. They were married August 17, 1991, and soon welcomed their children Kacey and Brandon who are the pride and joy of their lives. Their family was completed over the years with their labs Bandit, Shadow, Cinder, Royal, and Jessie who Russ loved so much.
Russ owned and operated Running’s Yamaha - John Deere dealership for 22 years. He then went to work at the Three lakes School District with their custodial team until his retirement in 2025.
Russ enjoyed anything racing including NASCAR, dirt ovals, and vintage snowmobiles. He had no greater joy then building and working on vintage race sleds for both Kacey and Brandon to race.
Russ will lovingly be remembered by many as “Hoytz” or “Rad Dude” and even “Honey” but to all who new him he will forever be called friend.
Russ is survived by his wife Debby, daughter Kacey (Felicia Schuster) Running, son Brandon (Sam) Running, his father Jim (Kathy) Running, brothers Rick (Lisa) Running, Mike (Traci) Running, sister Lisa (Jack) Wales, sister-in-law Donna (Jay) Teagle, brother-in-law David (Lissy) Moore. As well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley Running, brother and sister-in-law Tim and Cheryl Running, mother-in-law Jane Moore.
A celebation of life and luncheon will be held on Saturday July 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sugar Camp Town Hall.
The Family would like to extend a special thank you to friends Jessica Czaplinski, and Toni Swendson for help caring for Russ.
