It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Wesley Skinner, who left this world on June 26, 2026, at the age of 60. Dave passed away courageously, as he lived, on his own terms, with the biggest heart you’d ever know. Born on December 27, 1965, in Woodruff, Dave was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dave was the cherished son of Lee and Rosalie Skinner. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee. His sister, Brenda and brothers, Scott and Daniel.

Dave’s legacy of love and generosity lives on through his mother, Rosalie whom he loved fiercely and unconditionally, his brother Roger, wife Valerie and children, Ken and wife Patricia along with their children and grandchildren, his sisters Patricia and husband Dan with their children and grandchildren, Barbara and husband Larry, Sharon and her children and grandchildren, sister June and husband Howard and children, sister Darlene and children, and Victoria and husband Matthew. His brothers Steve, Paul and wife Christina with their children and grandchildren, and Joel.

Having graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1983, Dave spent his life dedicated to the world of engines and motors, a passion that fueled his career and personal interests. He was a true enthusiast of anything that roared to life with the turn of a key. Dave was a devoted fan of NASCAR, forever cheering for his hero, Dale Earnhardt. He was a “bowtie man” through and through, a testament to his love for Chevrolet and all things fast and thrilling.

Dave was known for being scrappy, with a heart that he wore proudly on his sleeve. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, always with a modest surprise when someone expressed how profoundly he had touched their life. Dave was humble to a fault, never truly seeing himself as the remarkable man we all knew him to be.

“Love strong.” A reminder of the love Dave shared with those around him — a love that was fierce, unwavering, and deeply felt.

Dave’s departure leaves a void that will never be filled. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a life marked by extraordinary generosity, humility, and a spirit that fought through adversity.

A private gathering of his close family and friends will be held to honor Dave’s life. Dave’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to live with kindness, humility, a love of God, and a boundless heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to organizations dedicated to domestic abuse assistance services.
