A lifelong resident of Rhinelander, Mike Wozniczka, 66, passed away on June 28, 2026. Mike married his wife, Carol, on October 15, 1983 in Green Bay. He started working at Campbell’s Clothing as a young boy and to this day the core group of employees are still friends and meet once a month for dinner. Mike cherished his Campbell’s Family. Mike retired from AVFCO Supply on August 29, 2025. He was a simple man in the best way. Enjoyed fishing with his Uncle Doug who was really more like a brother to him. He enjoyed visiting with friends, meeting with his coffee clutching guys every morning, cooking out in the backyard and spending time with his wife, son, favorite daughter-in-law, and had a very special relationship with his grandson.
Mike recently suffered two strokes (March and May) and was recovering from those. On Sunday, June 21, 2026 he received the news that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had metastasized throughout his body. He went home under hospice care on June 24, 2026 and died peacefully at home with his family.
Mike was able to communicate his wishes to Carol and Nicholas and they were able to say their goodbyes. He was loved by many, and no one ever had a bad word to say about him. In true Mike form, even with the seriousness of his diagnosis, he didn’t feel sorry for himself. He was more concerned about his family and how they were doing.
Carol, Nicholas, Breanna and Charley thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. A special thank you goes out to the nurses, doctors, and CNA’s at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. They treated the family with dignity, compassion, and kindness. The family also wants to recognize Aspirus Home Hospice nurses who helped them keep Mike comfortable at home.
One of the last things Mike said to Carol and Nicholas was “love each other,” and that’s what the family wishes for his family and friends.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Carlson Funeral Home. You may leave your private condolences for the Wozniczka family at www.carlsonfh.com. A complete notice will follow shortly. The Carlson Funeral Home, 715-369-1414, is serving the Wozniczka family.
