RHS Sports recap: Friday, Jan. 30


Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 69, Antigo 46


A fast start propelled the Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team past Antigo 69-46 Friday night at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. 


The Hodags started the game on a 15-0 run and lead 35-15 at the half. Antigo jumped into a 1-3-1 zone in the second half, which Rhinelander struggled against as the lead dwindled to 43-29 before the Hodags pulled away late.


Devon Feck led Rhinelander with 22 points while Abe Gretzinger chipped in 13. Randy Quevedo had 16 off the bench to lead Antigo. 


Rhinelander (14-2, 9-1 Great Northern) hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.


Girls’ basketball: Rhinealnder 74, Antigo 18


The RHS girls’ basketball team dominated Antigo on Friday, defeating the Red Robins 74-18 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. 


Rhinelander led wire-to-wire, taking a 43-12 lead to halftime and holding the Robins to only six second-half points. 


Aubryn Clark paced the Hodags with 25 points. Lexi Beran had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Teagan Clark added 11 points. Penny Lane Remington had nine points and nine rebounds to lead Antigo.


Rhinelander (9-9, 6-4 Great Northern) heads to Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.
