Harold Reader, 87, of Tomahawk, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his residence. Harold was born on November 9, 1938, in Chicago, to the late Harry and Dorothy (Witz) Reader. He grew up in Illinois and attended Mooseheart High School where he was an active student-athlete, playing both basketball and football. On November 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Linda Williams at the Mooseheart Chapel; she survives.
Throughout his working life, Harold was a dedicated tradesman and business owner. He owned and operated Reader Heating and Sheet Metal in Harshaw. Earlier in his career, he also spent time working in Anchorage, Alaska. Known for being a jack-of-all trades, Harry could do many different jobs and fix anything.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Linda Reader; his son, Harold (Roxy) Reader; his daughter, Christine (TJ) Reader; his nephews, Jeff (Charlene) Reader, Richard (Carla) Reader, Eric Reader, and Harry Reader; his sister, Charlotte Morrill. Harold is further survived by his grandchildren, Harold Reader, Jr., Lucas Reader, Felicia Reader, Jeremiah (Nicole) Orr, Kyle (Patti) Wozniak, and Kaitlyn (Chris) Lee, in addition to many great-grandchildren, extended Readers, cousins, Arizona friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy; his brothers, Harry and Walt; an infant son; and his nephew, Joseph.
Memorial services will be held at the time of burial and will be announced in The Northwoods River News. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
