Carol Jean Dillard, 66, of Rhinelander, passed away on January 22, 2026, at her home with her two devoted dogs by her side. She was born in Milwaukee, the daughter of Paul and Shirley (Koracin) Dillard.
Carol was known for her wonderful laugh and her quiet, steady devotion to serving others. She touched countless lives — whether supporting her students at Blackwell Job core, working alongside the Blue Heron People, or bringing joy to children and the young at heart as a Christmas Elf. To many, she was lovingly known as Sister C, a name that reflected her warmth, compassion, and generosity.
Carol was also a gifted craftsman with a rare ability to take an idea and transform it into practical use. She built drums, closets, furniture, and countless other projects, each one reflecting her creativity, skill, and love of working with her hands.
Sister C will be deeply missed by many family members and friends who will remember her in their hearts.
A visitation for Carol will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander. A future celebration of life will be held later this spring in southern Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to one of the following organizations, Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) - https://hawspets.givecloud.co/give.
