Anthony John Seubert, 74, of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, January 17, in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., as the result of a tragic pedestrian-vehicle accident.

Tony was born September 4, 1951, in Wausau, to John and Joan (Gassner) Seubert. He grew up in Marathon, enjoying small-town life with his siblings and friends. He graduated from Marathon High School in 1969 and earned an associate degree in engineering from NCTI. Tony dedicated 40 years to Waupaca Foundry in Marinette, where he worked his way up to mechanical and engineering manager.

Tony married the love of his life, Darlene, on May 5, 1973. Together they shared 51 years of marriage, raised two daughters, and built their own home in Peshtigo. In 2001, they purchased a lake home in Rhinelander, which Tony lovingly remodeled over the next two decades, turning it into a cherished family retreat.

An active and endlessly curious man, Tony enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, snowmobiling, UTV riding, boating, maple syrup making, and mushroom hunting. He was especially known for hosting an annual Fourth of July fireworks show that became a family tradition. After retirement, he taught himself woodworking, creating furniture and cabinetry for the family lake home.

Tony also loved to travel, from road trips and Canadian fishing adventures to European travel and Caribbean snorkeling trips. A devoted craft beer enthusiast, he made it his mission to try new brews wherever he went.

Above all, Tony treasured his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters Tammy (Paul) Radtke and Denise (David) Pickering; grandchildren Isaac, Carl, Arianna, and Kamden; siblings Jer (Deb) Seubert, Claire (John) Blume, and Eric Seubert; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike Seubert.

The visitation for Tony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Parish, located at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander, from 9 until an 11 a.m. memorial Mass. Father Chris Kemp will officiate. A luncheon will follow at Nativity of Our Lord Parish. A celebration of life will follow the mass and luncheon at CT’s Deli located at 17 N. Brown Street, from 2 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hodag Sno-Trails or the Moen Lake Chain Association.

Tony lived life fully and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
