Boys’ swimming: Rhinelander 5th/16, Shorewood Invite

The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team took fifth on Saturday in the Small School State Invite at Shorewood High School.

The Hodags hade seven top-eight finishes in the meet, led by a 1-3 finish from Dean Gillingham and Judson O’Malley in the 100-yard breaststroke. Gillingham was also second in the 100 freestyle. Gillingham, Judson O’Malley, Kellen O’Malley and Charlie Antonuk were fourth in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Antonuk added seventh-place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

The Hodags are back in action Tuesday in a non-conference double dual at Stevens Point. 

Boys’ wrestling: Rhinelander 14th/19, Wausau East Invite

The Rhinelander High School boys’ wrestling team was 14th of 19 teams Saturday at the Wausau East Invite. 

The Hodags had a handful of top-eight finishes, led by Anthony Boldt, who took fifth at 150 pounds. Noah Monk took sixth at 113, Ivan Loka (132), Hoyt Dantoing (138), Gage Anderson (157) and Elias Puza (165) scored seventh-place finishes. Avrom Barr was eighth at 144.

The Hodags are back in action Tuesday in a dual meet at Mosinee.
