Duane “Dewey” Snyder, 90, of the town of Sugar Camp, died on January 15, 2026, in Minocqua. He was born on April 1, 1935, in Rhinelander, the son of Earl and Ruby (Larson) Snyder Sr. He graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1953.
Dewey is survived by his wife Edna (Thorn), his daughter Sheree (Bryan) Kral, his sons Randy (Karen) Snyder, Danny (Anita) Snyder and Keith (Pamela) Snyder, his 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Earl Snyder.
Dewey served in the Air Force for four years. After leaving they returned to Wisconsin, spent a few years in the Milwaukee area then came home to Sugar Camp where he had spent the last 55 years. He worked for Princl trucking then Pitlik & Wick and retired from there after 25 years.
He enjoyed his long retirement spending time outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting and time out at the family cabin “The Doghouse.” Mostly enjoyed and loved time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation for Dewey will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m., with memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Morgan Simmons will officiate. Interment will follow in the summer at the Northwoods National Cemetery. A complete notice will follow in the River News.
