Applications open for 4 Nicolet College board positions

Applications are being accepted for four seats on the Nicolet College District Board from residents living within the district. The board appointment committee will make appointments under its Plan of Representation, which outlines membership categories and requirements for geographic, gender and minority representation.

The openings include two additional members for three‑year terms, one elected official member for a three‑year term, and one interim additional member for a two‑year term. Terms are expected to begin on or about July 1, pending certification by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

All district residents are eligible to serve as additional members. At least one appointee must reside in Lincoln County within the district, at least one must reside in Vilas County or the portion of Iron County within the district, and at least one must reside in Oneida County or the portion of Langlade County within the district. An elected official member must currently hold a national, state or local office.

The appointment process gives equal consideration to population distribution within the district and to the representation of women and minorities. No two board members may be officials of the same governmental unit, and no member may serve on the school board that employs the district’s school district administrator member, which is currently the Rhinelander School District.

Completed applications, including at least two letters of recommendation, must be received by 4 p.m. Feb. 10. All applicants are required to participate in a public hearing before the district board appointment committee on March 3 at 1 p.m. A second hearing is scheduled for March 5 at 9 a.m. if needed.
