RHS Sports recap: Saturday, Jan. 17
Boys’ hockey: Marshfield 9, Rhinelander 0
Marshfield defeated Rhinelander 9-0 Saturday in a non-conference boys’ hockey game in Marshfield.
Marshfield scored five times in the first, three times in the second and once more in the third as they outshot the Hodags 49-9 in the game. Connor McGee made 40 saves in defeat.
Rhinelander (0-15-0, 0-7-0-0 Great Northern) hosts Medford on Tuesday.
Boys’ wrestling: Rhinelander 6th/8, Weston/Ithaca Invite
The Rhinelander High School boys’ wrestling team was sixth Saturday in the Weston/Ithaca Invite.
Ivan Loka had the best record on the day for Rhinelander, going 4-1 as he took third place at 132 pounds. Hoyt Dantoin was fifth at 138 and Brock Sternitzky was fifth at 285.
Rhinelander will host Medford in a GNC dual on Thursday.
Girls’ wrestling: Rhinelander 11th/14 River Valley Invite
The RHS girls’ wrestling team was 11th on Saturday in the River Valley Invitational, with its quartet of wrestlers.
Cassidy Lindner won all four of her matches on the day with three pins in a technical fall to not only win the 120-pound weight class, but be named the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler.
Miranda Daab finished third at 235, while Nevaeh Anderson and Skylar Leitl were sixth and seventh, respectively, at 152.
The Hodags will take part in a GNC/WVC challenge match in Tomahawk on Tuesday.
