Hodag bowlers place well at Wisconsin Youth Masters tournament
Four bowlers from the Rhinelander Area Youth Bowling Club took part in the Wisconsin USBC Masters Weekend at Dale’s Weston Lanes and bowled in the Youth Masters Tournament on Sunday, Jan. 11 at the center.
Each bowler bowled in their own division based on their league averages.
“Our four bowlers participating all did well. It was a tough oil pattern and some of Wisconsin’s best bowlers were participating, so competition was tough,” said Cory Dellenbach, one of the club’s coaches. “All of the bowlers had their ups and downs, but they powered through the six games.”
Rhinelander eighth grader Charlotte Preuss placed the highest for Rhinelander, taking second out of seven bowlers in the girls 149 & under average division. She finished her six-game series with a score of 860. She will receive scholarship money from the Wisconsin USBC with that finish.
Fellow eighth grader Natalie Dellenbach competed in the girls 150-179 average division and walked away with a fourth-place finish out of 10 with a score of 975. Helping her get to that total were 200 and 196 games.
RHS freshman Eli Miller competed in the Boys 160-189 average division and claimed sixth place out of 11 bowlers with a 995 score. He held onto second until the final two games.
Three Lakes senior Oren Alsager also competed, taking part in the Boys 190-plus average division and came away with a fifth-place finish out of 21 bowlers with a score of 1,122.
