RHS Sports recap: Monday, Jan. 12
Boys’ hockey: Mosinee 8, Rhinelander 1
The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team couldn’t keep up with Mosinee Monday night, falling to the Indians 8-1 in GNC play at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
Mosinee led 4-1 after a period, tacked on a goal in the second and three more in the third. Tyler Baars scored four times in the game for Mosinee as the Indians outshot he Hodags 59-13.
Dylan Shefveland had the goal for the Hodags, scoring on a power play late in the first period. Connor McGee made 51 saves in the loss for Rhinelander.
The Hodags (0-13-0, 0-6-0-0 Great Northern) will host Lakeland on Thursday.
Girls’ wrestling: Rhinelander 4th/6, GNC/WVC Challenge at Lakeland
The Rhinelander High School girls’ wrestling team went 6-6 in contested bouts on Monday as it finished fourth out of six teams in a GNC/WVC Challenge match in Minocqua.
Cassidy Lindner won earned a pin and a technical fall in her contested matches and added a win by forfeit as she improved to 25-2 on the year. Katie Hazelton went 2-1 on the night, Skylar Leital was 1-1, Nevaeh Anderson was 1-2 and Miranda Daab was 0-2.
The Hodags return to action Saturday in the River Valley Invite.
