Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport experiences standout year
The Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport (RHI), according to a press release, is celebrating a major milestone after passenger boardings climbed to an 18-year high in calendar year 2025, marking one of the most exciting years in the airport’s history.
A total of 30,686 revenue passengers boarded flights at RHI in 2025, the press release said, “a fantastic number made possible in large part by visitors traveling to Wisconsin’s beloved Northwoods region for both business and pleasure.”
From business opportunities to outdoor recreation, and seasonal events to family visits and tourism; strong visitor demand played a key role in driving this decades-high performance.
“This milestone highlights the Northwoods’ continued appeal as a popular destination and the critical role RHI plays in welcoming visitors to our region,” airport director Matthew Leitner said. “It’s a clear sign of increasing momentum regarding local travel, tourism, and the regional economy.”
Airport leaders look forward to building on this success in 2026 with daily Delta Connection flight options, in addition to seasonal flights to Chicago-O’Hare on United Express.
“On behalf of all Airport Commissioners, I want to thank our passengers and airline partners,” said Patrick Marquart, chairman of the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport commission. “Each boarding represents trust in our airport and helps ensure strong, reliable air service for the Northwoods and the continuation of a growing regional economy.”
