Daniel James Peter Sr.

Daniel James Peter Sr., 62, of Rhinelander, died on December 17, 2025 at the Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. He was born on March 17, 1963 in Rhinelander, the son of Douglas and Evelyn (Bailey) Peter. He graduated from the Rhinelander High School and then served in the United States Army for 10 years. He fought in the Gulf War, serving in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Dan Wanted to be everybody’s friend and help people when they needed it. When Dan wasn’t working or helping others, Dan was out enjoying his favorite pastime fishing. Sunshine, rain, sleet, snow, tidal wave it did not matter. Dan would be out fishing. Dan will always be remembered for his kind soul and gentle heart. 

Dan is survived by his wife Florence “Flo” (Anderson), his sons Daniel Peter Jr. and Michael Peter, his step sons Mark (Tara) Fus Jr. and Andy (Peggy) Fus, his mother Evelyn Peter, his step-grandchildren, his sisters Jo Ann Seidel, Carol (Gary) Stafford, Elizabeth (Dan) Matson and Kimberly (John) Medina, his brother Timothy (Annette) Peter, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Robert. 

Visitation for Daniel will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Northwoods National Cemetery at 1 p.m. that same day.
