RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Jan. 6
Gymnastics: Rhinelander 120.2, Ashland 107.05
The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team won every event on Tuesday as it defeated defending GNC Small Division champion Ashland 120.2-107.05 at the Beck Family YMCA.
Emeline Hintz set career-high marks in two events and the individual all-around as she placed second overall on the night with a 32.225. She won the floor exercise (8.65) and was the runner-up on both balance beam and floor exercise.
Addison Fish won the uneven bars (6.9) and was third in the all-around. Alexis Smith took the vault for the Hodags (8.55). Marsadies Williams and Karly Gillingham came home fourth and fifth in the all-around.
Rhinelander (1-0 GNC Small) is next in action Jan. 20 at Antigo.
Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander at Tomahawk, ppd.
The RHS boys’ basketball game at Tomahawk was postponed due to inclement weather. A make-up date was not immediately announced.
Rhinelander (7-1, 3-0 Great Northern) travels to Merrill on Thursday.
Girls basketball: Tomahawk at Rhinelander, ppd.
The RHS girls’ basketball game vs. Tomahawk was postponed due to inclement weather. A make-up date was not immediately announced.
Rhinelander (5-6, 2-2 Great Northern) hosts Merrill on Friday.
Boys’ hockey: Mosinee at Rhinelander, ppd.
The RHS boys’ hockey game vs. Tomahawk was postponed due to inclement weather. A make-up date was not immediately announced.
Rhinelander (0-11-0, 0-4-0-0 Great Northern) travels to Medford on Thursday.
Girls’ wrestling: GNC/WVC Challenge No. 2 at D.C. Everest, ppd.
The second Great Northern/Wisconsin Valley Conference girls’ wrestling challenge night at D.C. Everest was postponed due to inclement weather. A make-up date was not immediately announced.
The Hodag girls’ wrestling team returns to action Jan. 10 at the Merrill Invite.
