Kemp Station hosts public outreach event Jan. 10

UW-Madison’s Kemp Natural Resources Station will host a public outreach event on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. in the Connor Forestry Center building.

Students from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design will have spent about a week at Kemp Station to complete a series of short-term research studies on the ecology of the forests and lakes in the area.

The students are majoring in fine arts, product design, illustration, or communication design, so this natural sciences honor field course is a novel experience for them. You are cordially invited to hear short summary presentations of their findings from their week-long endeavor, exploring a variety of ecological aspects, as well as an overview of their art/design interests.

Topics can range from ‘do biotic factors drive biodiversity’ to ‘implications of different forest management strategies’ and everything in between, depending on each student’s personal research interest. No registration is required.

Kemp Station is located at 9161 Kemp Road, Woodruff. Follow signs to the Connor Forestry Center building. Questions may be addressed to [email protected] or 715-358-5667.
