Free income tax assistance available
Trained and certified volunteers, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, and working through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program, will once again provide free federal and state income tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation including electronic filing this year.
The Rhinelander site volunteers have over 100 years of combined tax aide experience.
The target group for this service is people with low to moderate income, with an emphasis for those 60 years or older.
The service, provided at no cost, is available at the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) in Rhinelander by appointment only each Monday and Wednesday, from Feb. 2 to April 8.
Contact the ADRC’s office at 715-369-6170 to schedule an appointment.
The Rhinelander site expects to prepare and e-file approximately 600 returns for the 2025 tax year with about one-third including a Homestead Tax Credit.
In the Northwoods, there are also tax aide sites in Eagle River at the Olson Public Library on Wednesdays, Feb. 4 to April 8, and in Minocqua at the library, from Feb. 6 to April 10. Call 715-479-3727 to make an appointment in Eagle River. Call 715-356-4437 to make an appointment in Minocqua.
