Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 47, Marinette 43

The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team erased an 11-point second-half deficit and defeated Marinette 47-43 Saturday night in a WIAA Division 2 regional final game in Marinette. 

Rhinelander tied the game on a Teagan Clark transition layup with 2:55 remaining and took the lead on a Lexi Beran putback off an Aubryn Clark with 2:24 to play to take the lead for good. 

Aubryn Clark led the Hodags with 20 points, Teagan Clark had 12 and Beran added nine points and eight rebounds. 

Marinette shot 50% from the field and was 9 of 14 from 3-point range. Brynn Coakley his four 3s off the bench to lead the Marines with 12. 

Rhinelander (16-10) advances to the sectional round of the WIAA tournament for the first time since 2020 and will face top-seeded Shawano at a to-be-determined neutral site location on Thursday.
