Rhinelander Basketball Association 7th & 8th grade tourney

The Rhinelander Basketball Association host a tournament for its eighth-grade black and green boys’ teams, and its seventh-grade boys team, Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium and James Williams Middle School.

The Hodag Black team won the eighth-grade pool with a perfect 3-0 mark. Rhinelander defeated Lakeland Black 51-27, Lakeland White 61-29 and Wausau East White 41-19 en route to the title. The Hodag Green team went 0-3 on the day, with losses to Lakeland White 32-29, Wausau East White 50-14 and Lakeland Black 41-13.

The Hodags were the runners-up in the seventh grade bracket, with wins over Amherst Blue (57-31) and Wausau East White (48-29) and a loss to Marathon (44-36).

RIA hosts mite tourney

The Rhinelander Ice Association held its annual Mite (U8) hockey tournament Feb. 14-16 at the Rhinelander Ice Arena. According to the RIA 35 teams from Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan took part in the tournament.
