Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 75, Laona/Wabeno 53
The Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team spread the wealth around with four players in double figures Tuesday night as they defeated the Laona/Wabeno Rebels on the road 75-53
Devon Feck scored 19 to lead four Hodags in double digits. Abe Gretzinger had 17, Jatyn Barkus had 14 and Evan Shoeder had 12 as Rhinelander led nearly wire-to-wire. The Hodags led 34-21 at the break and pulled away early in the second half.
Cooper Albrecht scored 18 to lead Laona/Wabeno.
Rhinelander (19-2, 11-1 Great Northern) hosts Lakeland Friday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Girls’ basketball: Rice Lake 72, Rhinelander 32
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team could not slow down the second-ranked Rice Lake Warriors, falling 72-32 in a non-conference contest Tuesday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Wisconsin recruit Adaline Sheplee led the Warriors with 28 points and scored her 2,000th-career point on a layup early in the second half. Addison Schmidt added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors.
Rice Lake led virtually wire-to-wire, going up 33-18 at the half before starting the second on a 25-3 run. Aubryn Clark was Rhinelander’s only player in double figures with 10.
The Hodags (13-10, 9-4 Great Northern) close out the regular season at home against Lakeland on Friday night.
