Discover Wisconsin episode spotlights Rhinelander’s history, culture and Hodag lore
Discover Wisconsin will open Season 39 with “Rhinelander — It’s Legendary!,” streaming Feb. 18. The episode was produced in partnership with the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce and follows hosts Andrea Boehlke and Eric Paulsen as they explore local history, outdoor recreation, dining, and the community’s well‑known Hodag lore.
“This was a fun one to film, from the multiple hodags — we’re always discovering new ones in town — to some parks, events, and even a cool BMX bike track I’d never been to,” Paulsen said in the release. He added that Rhinelander’s history “is the history of the Northwoods,” noting stops at Pioneer Park, downtown businesses, and area resorts.
Boehlke said, “It was so fun to get to explore Rhinelander with a new lens and discover what makes it so legendary,” highlighting resorts, the Hodag tour, and the local food scene.
The episode includes visits to Brown Street 151, family‑owned lakeside resorts, and community events such as the Hodag Country Festival and Lights of the Northwoods.
The early digital debut streams Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. on discoverwisconsin.com and YouTube. Broadcast airings follow Feb. 21–22 on regional affiliates.
