Nitty-gritty of Newbold’s subdivision and platting ordinance being reviewed by town plan commission
By Ardith Carlton of the Northwoods River News
The Newbold plan commission has begun the line-by-line process of reviewing, discussing and proposing revisions to Newbold Town Ordinance Chapter 13 Subdivision and Platting.
The discussion filled much of the commission’s meeting last Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Newbold Community Center.
Member Scott Ridderbusch, a land use specialist with the Oneida County Planning and Zoning Department, presented a draft of proposed redactions and additions to Chapter 13. That chapter was last updated in 2012, and the proposed changes are intended to remove outdated provisions, make wording more clear, and bring the ordinance into agreement with state statutes and Oneida County ordinances.
The first two of the chapter’s 17 sections were examined and discussed: Land Division & Platting 13.01 (subsections 13.01.01 Statutory Authority, 13.01.02 Purpose, 13.01.03 Intent, 13.01.04 Abrogation and Greater Restrictions, 13.01.05 Interpretation, 13.01.06 Non-Liability, and 13.01.07 Severability) and General Provisions 13.02 (subsections 13.02.01 Jurisdiction, 13.02.02 Compliance, 13.02.03 Dedication and Reservation of Lands, Roads, Highways, Drainage Ways and Recreational Trails, 13.02.04 Improvements, 13.02.05 Variances, and 13.02.06 Appeals).
The review will resume at next month’s meeting. Upon completion, the proposed chapter changes will go to the Newbold town board for action.
In the administrative review portion of the meeting, chairman Dan Hess told the commission a request had come to the town board from a person looking to purchase the Newbold School and have it rezoned for business use.
“The town advised to go back to the county and do it the proper way through the plan commission,” he said. “They’re talking about doing a couple businesses over there as well as … kind of a (car) salvage. So that’ll come to the plan commission if they follow through, and I don’t know if they’re going to follow through at this point.”
Newbold resident Eric Borchardt had told the town board about his hopes to have the former Newbold School rezoned at the board’s regular monthly meeting Jan. 29.
The next meeting of the Newbold plan commission will be March 5 at 5 p.m. at the Newbold Community Center.
