David James Wolczewski, 74, of Jennings — a loving husband, devoted father and friend to many — passed away on Jan. 26, 2026.
David grew up in Greenfield. He met the love of his life while she was visiting her aunt. Her aunt lived just down the road from him. This started a love story that they shared starting when they married on June 5, 1971, and would last for 52 years until her death on March 19, 2023.
David and Shari lived in Big Bend, at the beginning of their married life for almost 30 years while raising their daughter Yvonne. They moved to Jennings to retire. He spent the remainder of his days enjoying being with Shari until she passed, spending time with his granddaughter, daughter, and son-in-law. He enjoyed his home, the outdoors, and his friends and family.
Through the years, David loved working on cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed teaching his daughter all about cars, motorcycles, and the outdoors, which included hunting and fishing. He loved to dance. Never said no to a great dance of “Rocky Top” and any polka. Some of my best memories are of dancing with my dad. He enjoyed taking care of his cats and being with family. He was always there when anyone needed help. He was a true kind soul who always wanted to help those in need.
David is survived by daughter Yvonne (William), granddaughter Anastasia, and sisters Anna (Peter), Donna (Bob), and Melody. David was preceded in death by his wife Shari, parents Gertrude and Aloysius, “Ollie” and in-laws Raymond and Jean. David had many more loving family members and friends.
A private Memorial Service with immediate family will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
