Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 77, Tomahawk 35
Rhinelander senior Devon Feck reached 1,000 points for his career Tuesday night as the Hodags defeated Tomahawk 77-35 in a GNC game in Tomahawk.
Feck needed eight points to reach the milestone and got it on a 3 roughly four minutes into the first half. He scored only one bucket there rest of the way while the Hodags cruised over the last-place Hatchets. Rhinelander led 49-20 at the half and pulled away in the second.
Abe Gretzinger led the Hodags with 18 points while Evan Shoeder and Vince White had 12 each. Ryan Montag led Tomahawk with 14.
Rhinelander (17-2, 10-1 Great Northern) hosts Merrill on Friday.
Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 81, Tomahawk 45
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team cruised Tuesday to an 81-45 win at Tomahawk in GNC play.
The Hodags led 48-20 at the break and hit a season-high 12 3-pointers in the contest. Aubryn Clark paced Rhinelander with 24 points while Teagan Clark had 18. Freya Alberg led Tomahawk with 27 points.
Rhinelander (12-9, 8-4 Great Northern) travels to Merrill on Thursday.
Boys’ hockey: Shawano/Bonduel 9, Rhinelander 1
The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team fell behind early and never recovered in a 9-1 loss to Shawano/Bonduel in non-conference play Tuesday at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
The Hawks scored seven times in the first period and tacked on two more goals in the second. Carson Plehn had Rhinelander’s score in the final minute of the third period.
Shots were 37-15 in favor of Shawano. Connor McGee made 28 saves in defeat.
Rhinelander (1-21-0, 1-9-0-0 Great Northern) closes out the regular season at home against Chequamegon/Phillips on Thursday.
