A Rhinelander man escaped serious injury on Feb. 3 in rollover of the pickup truck he was driving at the intersection of Fawn Lake Road and State Highway 47 in Lake Tomahawk, near the unincorporated town of McNaughton.

According to the state accident report filed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Thompson, 44, told a sheriff’s deputy he was southbound in the 2011 Toyota Tacoma he was driving and, according to the report’s narrative by the deputy, had “moved over because of oncoming traffic and his vehicle got sucked into the ditch.”

From there, Thompson said, the Tacoma “rolled over in the snow” and ended up on its roof, side airbags deployed.

Aside from being “shaken” as a result of the rollover, Thompson said he wasn’t injured.
