RHS Sports recap: Saturday, Feb. 7
Boys’ wrestling: Rhinelander 5th/7, GNC Meet
The Rhinelander High School boys’ wrestling team had three members earn all-conference honors as the Hodags took fifth at the Great Northern Conference meet Saturday and Medford.
Ivan Loka went 3-1 on the day to take the runner-up spot at 132 pounds. After pinning his first three opponents the was pinned by Merrill’s Brett Suchocki in the championship match. Hoyt Dantoin finished second at 138 pounds and Anthony Boldt finished third at 150.
The Hodags will travel to Antigo Feb. 14 for a WIAA sectional tournament.
Gymnastics: Rhinelander 6th/8, Marshfield Invite
The RHS gymnastics team shuffled its lineup around on Saturday at it took sixth in the eight-team Marshfield Invite, with a season low of 111.825 points.
Emeline Hintz finished 10th in the all-around with a score of 32.125. Her day was highlighted by 10th-place finishes on the vault and balance beam. She also had the team’s top score on uneven bars, taking 14th. Alexis Smith had the top finish on floor exercise, taking 12th and she placed 19th in the all-around.
Usually all-around competitors Addison Fish and Marsadies Williams were not in the varsity lineup for the Hodags on Saturday.
Rhinlenader returns to action Thursday, Feb. 12 in a GNC Small dual meet against Mosinee in Rhinelander.
