Russell J. Rocke, 69, was taken to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
He was born in Antigo, to Leonard and Collette (Early) Rocke and was raised in Neva, a small farming community. Russ began driving truck at a young age for his father’s bulk milk business, beginning a lifelong career built on dedication and hard work.
He married Sue Schoeneck, and together they lived in Antigo, where Russ worked on potato farms and started a Pick Your Own Strawberry Farm. They later moved to Rhinelander, where Russ continued to hold various driving positions throughout his life.
Russ was known for his strong work ethic and his quiet, generous nature. He was always willing to help anyone, day or night. He found joy in nature — feeding birds and tending to plants, trees, and flowers — and truly had a green thumb. He loved cooking and grilling for others.
Russ and Sue were blessed with two sons, Mike (daughter-in-law Michele) and Chad (daughter-in-law Meghan), and one beloved granddaughter, Olive. He is further survived by his sister Colleen, nephew Tyler, as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Collette Rocke; his brother Tim; and his in-laws, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law.
A memorial is being established in Russ’s name, and gifts may be directed to the family.
A memorial service will be held for Russ at noon on Friday, Feb. 6 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Reverend Nathan Plocher will officiate.
