Marilynn Meirhofer, age 75, of Rhinelander, died at her home on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1950 in Marshfield to Francis and Lillian (Bannach) Shefchik.
Marilynn grew up in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1969. After graduating high school she married Allan O’Malley and they had three children together. Marilynn worked multiple jobs in the Rhinelander area, she worked in the jewelry industry for 10 years, many administrative positions such as Rhinelander Paper Company, Bergman and Kopp, Peterson Health Care, and finally working for home health. She enjoyed all of her jobs throughout the years and loved the people that she worked with.
Her first husband Allan died in 1998 and she met Eugene Meirhofer, they were married in the early 2000s and they spent the remainder of Eugene’s life together.
Marilynn loved many things like gardening, arts and crafts, the Packers, and was an accomplished pianist playing all over Rhinelander. She loved her family most of all and spent time with them when she could.
Marilynn is survived by her daughter Michelle (Jason) Oftel of Minneapolis, sons Paul and John O’Malley both of Rhinelander, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sister Terry (Ted) Gallenberger of Milwaukee, brothers Joe Shefchik of Atlanta, and Jerry Shefchik of Rhinelander, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands Allan O’Malley and Eugene Meirhofer.
A Funeral Mass will take place for Marilynn on Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with Father Jerome D’Souza officiating. A visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery.
