Lindner earns academic all-state honors in girls’ wrestling
Rhinelander High School junior Cassidy Lindner received first-team academic all-state honors from the Wisconsin Wrestling Association (WWA), it was announced this week.
Lindner was one of 10 juniors statewide to receive first-team honors in a system that awards both academic achievement and success on the wrestling mat.
Wrestlers who received academic all-state honors were required to have a non-weighted grade point average of 3.7 or better. Other factors, such as varsity wins, state qualification and placement at the WIAA state tournament, helped determine who earned first- and second-team honors.
Lindner went 50-8 for the Hodags this year, winning the inaugural Great Northern/Wisconsin Valley conference championship at 120 pounds. She qualified for the WIAA state meet in the same weight class.
Lindner was the only Hodag wrestler to receive all-academic honors from the WWA.
