Doris Jean Lonie, nèe Mullin, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by family. She was a woman of immense heart and selfless spirit.

Jean was born in 1941 to Luke and Rose Mullin, nèe Franzel, in Ashland, . She spent her childhood in Delta and was a proud graduate of Ondossagon High School, Class of 1959. She brought her sharp mind for bookkeeping to Pure Dairy where she worked for years until becoming a stay-at-home mother, a role she considered her most important work. Jean later worked in the office at Rhinelander GM beginning in 1991 and remained a dedicated fixture until her retirement in 2005.

She was first married to Robert Lindenberg, with whom she shared three children. In 1980, she married William Lonie, beginning a new chapter of companionship and love.

Her legacy lives on through her three children, Steven (Tammy) Lindenberg, Michael (Teresa) Lindenberg, and Suzanne (Mark) Dunco; her six grandchildren Derek (Chelsey), Stevie, Brody, Zachary, Alec and Olivia; and her six great-grandchildren, Saniyah, Parker, Grace, Nora, Kalani, and Hadley. To them, she was more than a matriarch; she was a treasured friend and their biggest supporter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Rose Mullin, sister, Sally Provost and husband, William Lonie. Jean is survived by a sister, Ann Clinton, a brother, Luke (Mary) Mullin, brother-in-law, Roger Provost, numerous nieces and nephews who all held a special place in Auntie Jean’s heart, along with many cherished friends, including her neighborhood crew who was like family to her.

Her soul was most at peace in the Northwoods. Whether she was spending quiet afternoons at Bell Lake in Delta, fishing for bluegills or tending to her garden, she found beauty in nature and the world around her. She rarely sat still for long, preferring to be outdoors, but did find joy in crosswords, and a good book. Her jams, cookies, soups and delicious baked goods will be missed. Jean also cherished the companionship of her dogs, grand-dogs and neighbor dogs, always having a treat on hand for them too.

A visitation for Mrs. Lonie will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon, all at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will be officiating. You may leave your private condolences for the Lonie family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Lonie family.
