Charges expected against Minocqua gunsmith

Charges against a Minocqua business owner are expected to be filed this week. 

In a press release issued on April 16, Minocqua police chief Glenn Janzer stated a search warrant was executed at Relentless Precision, a gunsmith shop on State Highway 70 on Minocqua’s west side, early that morning.

“The search warrant is part of an active criminal investigation being conducted by the Minocqua Police Department,” Janzer said in the press release. “The investigation involves alleged property crimes, there is no danger to the community.”

He said in the press release investigators were aware of 12 victims related to the case and by the afternoon of April 16, Minocqua police officer Terry Pockat said that number had increased to 16.

“Any individual who has recently conducted business with Relentless Precision and believes they may be missing property are asked to contact the Minocqua Police Department at 715-356-3234,” Janzer said. “Callers should be prepared to provide a complete description of the missing property, including serial numbers if available. Those who have already contacted the department will be notified as investigators work through the property that was seized and updates become available.”

Friday, he told The Lakeland Times his hope was to have charges ready this week. 

“I’m hoping the DCI (Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation) will come through at their end of the warrant,” Janzer said. 

In addition to the DCI, Janzer said Minocqua police were being assisted by Woodruff police and the Oneida County district attorney’s office.
