Stella town board reviews East Stella Lake Road project plans at special meeting
With the expected June start of construction nearing for the town of Stella’s East Stella Lake Road project, town supervisors heard the latest update on engineer MSA Profesional Services’ plans from Phil Kriesel of MSA at a special town board meeting last Wednesday, April 8.
“They have the plans almost finished for the roads,” town chairman William “Casey” Crump told the River News. “(The meeting) was just to review those plans with us to make sure that we didn’t want anything changed ... everything looked good. Once they finish the plans, we’ll be going out to bid.”
In the project, for which Crump said the town received a $4.2 million Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) grant from the state and is paying a share of around $400,000, improvements will be made on Stella Lake Road from County C to Spring Drive, Spring Drive to Spafford Road, Tenderfoot Road from County Highway C to Spring Road, and Spafford Road from Spring Drive to Dollar Lake Road. The roads’ current 16-foot width with one- to two-foot shoulders will be increased to an 18-foot width with two-foot shoulders.
“They have to be finished by October, but they’ll probably be finished long before that,” said Crump.
The next meeting of the Stella town board will be its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 21, at 5 p.m. at Stella Town Hall.
