RHS Sports recap: Monday, April 13
Softball: Rhinelander 21, Northland Pines 0
The Rhinelander High School softball team defeated Northland Pines 21-0 in in three innings Monday at the Hodag Dome.
Rhinelander took advantage of erratic Northland Pines pitcher, scoring 14 runs in the first inning and seven more in the second. Two Eagle pitchers combined for 12 wakes and five hit batters.
The Hodags had eight hits in the game, including two each from Nevaeh Anderson and Saige Mutter, who combined to drive in eight runs. Aleece Johnson didn’t allow a hit over three innings for Rhinelander, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Rhinelander (7-4, 3-0 Great Northern) travels to Merrill on Thursday.
Golf: Rhinelander 21st/33, Randolph Invite
The Rhinelander High School golf team shot 343 and sat 21st following the opening round of the Randolph Invite at Trappers Turn in Wisconsin Dells.
Junior Hank Kowieski was Rhinelander’s top scorer on Monday, shooting 83 to sit in a tie for 61st in the 163-player field. Grant Gremban and Chase West shot matching 86s and Blake Petroff carded an 88. Dylan Shefveland shot 100.
The second and final round of the tournament takes place Tuesday.
Baseball: Rhinelander at Northland Pines, ppd.
Rhinelander’s scheduled GNC game at Northland Pines on Monday was postponed due to poor field conditions. A make-up date had not been announced as of the time of this post.
Rhinelander (1-0, 1-0 Great Northern) is scheduled to host Merrill on Thursday.
