Crescent town board opens road and roof project bids

Deferring some decisions until its next meeting made for a relatively short gathering for the Crescent town board Wednesday, April 8.

The highlight was the opening of bids for the town’s seven prospective road projects for 2026, which involve Fire Tower Road, Hat Rapids Road, Range Line Road, North Rifle Road, Sterling Road, Long Lake Road and Beyer Road.

“We got at least two bids on  each of those projects,” board chairman Grady Hartman told the River News. “Now that we’ve got some firm numbers, we can debate how much of our budget we want to spend on it ... we’re going to chew on the bids and then come back (on April 21) and decide.’

Another project, replacement of part of the town shop’s roof, brought five bids to be opened, and the board to also act on later this month. 

“We kicked it to the next meeting so that we could study the proposals and make sure they’re what we want,” explained Hartman.

That next meeting of the Crescent town board will be its annual meeting, to be held at the Crescent Town Hall on Tuesday, April 21, at 5 p.m.
