RHS Sports recap: Friday, April 10
Baseball: Rhinelander 4, Antigo 2
The Rhinelander High School baseball team broke through for four runs in the fourth inning as it defeated Antigo in the season opener 4-2 Friday in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Hodags took advantage of three Antigo errors in the inning, including one on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jackson Waydick that tied the game. Conner Rappley gave the Hodags the lead on a two-out single and Sawyer Bishop plated two insurance runs with a base hit after that.
Three Hodag pitchers combine to two-hit the Red Robins. Waydick struck out two over three innings in a no-decision. Vince White got the win in relief, allowing a run on no hits with a walk and two strikeouts over two innings. Rappley got the save, working around an unearned run in the sixth.
Abe Gretzinger collected a pair of singles and the Hodags had five hits overall in the contest.
