A Hazelhurst man involved in an accident involving a utility task vehicle (UTV) on March 23 has died of injuries sustained at the time.

Paul Vedder, 58, was found trapped under the UTV he had been operating in near the edge of Lake Kaubashine in Hazelhurst.

According to a press release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, when the call was received, it was reported the machine’s engine was still running but there were no signs of the operator.

Officers with the Minocqua police department and emergency medical personnel found Vedder trapped under the UTV.

Vedder was removed from under the UTV and CPR was performed on him.

He was transported by ambulance to Marshfield Medical Center and then flown by medical helicopter for further medical evaluation.

Personnel with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are investigating the accident.
