Rich likely to succeed Hegeman as Oneida County Highway commish

The Oneida County board’s public works and highway committee has made a recommendation to the county board regarding the next county highway commissioner.

The committee at its April 2 meeting forwarded to the county board a resolution electing Ben Rich as the next Oneida County highway commissioner.

Rich has been highway commissioner on an interim basis following the resignation of Alex Hegeman in March. 

He’s been with the highway department for 19 years and up to his time as interim highway commissioner, has been the department’s patrol superintendent. 

Prior to that, Rich said he worked for 12 years in road construction.

The resolution for his election by the county board will be on the agenda for its April 21 meeting.
