McCaffery to be inducted to Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame April 21 in Rhinelander
Conservation nonprofit Wisconsin’s Green Fire (WGF) is hosting a public event on April 21 from 4-7 p.m. at The Pines in Rhinelander. All are invited to attend this celebration of science and conservation featuring Keith McCaffery, one of the 2026 inductees to the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame (WCHF). Food is included with registration. There will be a cash bar.
Registration is $10 per person. Full event details and the registration link are available on the WGF website at https://wigreenfire.org/events. The deadline to register is April 10.
Keith McCaffery will be the guest of honor in person at the Rhinelander event. The WCHF induction ceremony is virtual and will be livestreamed for all the attendees.
The WCHF is our state’s unique way of formally recognizing individuals who have contributed significantly to conservation in Wisconsin and in the nation. Only three individuals per year receive the honor of being inducted into the WCHF. In 2026, the honor goes to Bill Lunney, Dr. Neil Payne, and Keith McCaffery.
Keith McCaffery is one of WGF’s founding members and sits on the WGF Science Council. For over 60 years, Keith’s conservation career has focused on deer management in Wisconsin.
WGF Board President Tom Jerow said, “This event is for anybody who wants to celebrate Wisconsin’s wildlife, water, forests, and our enduring conservation ethic. Keith has exemplified that commitment. We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate his induction to the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame. I hope the community turns out strong for this party!”
