Stella approves tree removal bid at special meeting
In preparation for the June start of a $4 million Agricultural Roads Improvement Program (ARIP) project, funded by a grant for projects that directly impact roads used for purposes such as agriculture and forestry, the Stella town board held a special meeting on March 24 to open bids for tree removal.
Town chairman William “Casey” Crump opened the only bid received, for $26,697.50 for the removal of 137 trees, from Treefellas Outdoor Service. The trees marked for removal include those that would impede the right of way for someone to run off the road and come back onto the road. The bid was accepted by the board.
The board also approved advertising for bids for the East Stella Lake Road project. A Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP) grant this year will help increase the road from its current 16-foot width with one- to two-foot shoulders to an 18-foot width with two-foot shoulders. Bids will be opened at the town board meeting May 11.
The next meeting of the Stella town board will be its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 21, at 5 p.m. at Stella Town Hall.
