Retzlaff takes 11th at Martinsville

Rhinelander native Parker Retzlaff narrowly missed scoring his third top-10 finish of the season in NASCAR’s second-tier O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Saturday, March 28, finishing 11th in the series’ 250-lap race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Retzlaff started 10th in the race and, despite getting caught up in a 19-car crash on a restart with 15 laps to go, still managed to finish on the lead lap.

“Somehow managed to walk away from @martinsvilleswy with a (sic) 11th place finish,” Retzlaff posted on social media afterward.

Retzlaff, driving the No. 99 Chevrolet for Viking Motorsports, still sits ninth in O’Reilly Series points through seven races, 51 points ahead of teammate Anthony Alfredo in 13th. The top 12 drivers in points after 24 races will be eligible for the season-ending chase of the championship.

The O’Reilly Series competes again this Saturday at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway. Retzlaff scored a career-best second place finish at Rockingham last season.
