James F. Gorczyca

James F. Gorczyca, 66, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

James was born on April 26, 1959, in Detroit. In 1976, he joined the U.S. Military, proudly serving his country. Following his service, James spent most of his adult life working as a Union Millwright — a career he truly loved.

In 2012, James and Sandy relocated to Rhinelander, where they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. James enjoyed watching his favorite sports, especially NASCAR, but what he loved most was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

One of James’s proudest moments was becoming a great-grandfather in June of 2025. He carried immense pride and joy in his growing family.

James is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his son, Nick; and his stepchildren, Adam (Amy), Amanda (Lonnie), and Erin (TK). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kira, Jared, Gracelynn, Sierra, Emily, Ethan, Brady, Meadow, Evan, Addisyn, Brianna, Marissa, Nathan, and Levi, as well as his great-granddaughter, Delilah, and another great-grandchild expected in August. He is also survived by cousins and many other loved ones.

James will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a truly amazing man who would do anything for anyone. His kindness, strength, and love will never be forgotten. We will all miss hearing him proudly say, “GO BLUE!” in support of his favorite team, the Michigan Wolverines.
